"I play wheelchair basketball because of my love for the game. In high-school I’d always get cut from the basketball teams on the very last cut. Four years after graduating from high school I walked on to a division two college basketball team. I wasn’t a star and I was on the B team (similar to a JV team.) However I finally achieved my dream of playing college ball. After my first semester I had my accident that led to the loss of my leg & other injuries in 2018. I was devastated with the new life that I had to live. This year I found the Coastal Chairmen and I was excited about the opportunity to get another chance to play the game that I love. My injuries include: an above the knee left leg amputation, a reconstructed left hand with severe loss of function and the amputation of my three smallest toes on my right foot. These injuries resulted from my car accident. One night I overcorrected my vehicle which led me to strike what I thought was a tree. I panicked and got out of my vehicle to later step on the live wire from what was actually the utility pole that I hit. My injuries are the result of the burns from the electrical shock from the power line."
